With Election Day looming ever nearer, my mailbox has become flooded with anti-Obama leaflets. Ignoring my initial reaction to quickly throw them away, I soon became fascinated with the misleading information, demonization of the President and overt fear mongering these ads employ. Below are two mailers from Americans for Tax Reform.
The Train of Debt will Smush your Children
Ah, yes. Obama the Commie Train Conductor. Note The Washington Post quote below… an op-ed, not a news article. Also worth considering: The United States Public Debt doubled under President George W. Bush due to two unpaid wars and decreased tax revenue. The deficit has continued to rise under President Obama largely due to policies implemented under the previous administration.

And here we see how the President cares more about studying ants and giving cocaine to monkeys than helping Coloradans find jobs. Although, one must consider that the study “Effects of Cocaine Self-Administration on Metabotropic Glutamate Systems” at the Wake Forest University Medical School is designed to help find treatment for cocaine abuse. Its funding also makes up than .0001% of the stimulus package. 
The study on exotic ants at the California Academy of Sciences is less than .00002% of the stimulus package. It created 22 jobs.

grrrrr……growl…..Thank you Margaret for giving this tripe the light of day. So much could be said. A few brief points: the amazing Bush/Repub slight of budgetary hand of NOT putting the billions of dollars to fund the wars into the official budget, so when that money was finally added in by Obama, oh boy it made the financial situation look bad…NOT created by Obama who would have voted against these unnecessary wars; anybody notice that the stock market lately?; I am ever so grateful for the stimulus money that gave construction workers jobs and funded the extensive road and bridge repair that has been done on the roads I drive every day; the damage that has been done to our credit rating, economy, and general moral by a repub congress that announced before he even took office that they would not go along with anything proposed by Obama, such that their current session ended with our farmers unsupported and job training for our veterans of the past 10 years of war unfunded.
Oh, that was not brief.
